Our story is our founder’s story: Takaya Cunningham Maddox is the founder and CEO of Miracle’s Hair Design™ and Salon. She opened Miracle’s in October 2003, with a physical location following in August 2005. The Miracle’s story began for Takaya at age 15 when she began styling in her home for family members. Her love for hair remained a driving force in her life through high school and college.
She attended Alabama A&M University, where she received a B.S. degree in Business Management with a minor in Computer Science. Takaya continued styling for friends and fellow students in her dorm room as well as traveling home on the weekends to build a clientele. Her skills earned her dorm room the nickname “Miracles,” and her salon is still endorsed under the same name today.
After completing her degree, Takaya continued her education in the field of beauty and is currently a licensed Cosmetology Instructor. Her 25 years of experience in styling and management has prepared her to be the CEO and owner of Miracle’s Hair Design™ & Salon, Inc. She demands the best from her staff and encourages their professional development. She aspires to become a better leader and better example.
Having multiple locations has always been an intricate part of the Miracle’s vision. Her vision includes, but is not limited to salons all over the state and stretching to other states, including Atlanta, Georgia, and Texas. That vision became a reality in May 2009, when she opened Miracle’s Hair Design™ & Salon of Alabaster located in Shelby County, AL.
With the desire to serve a growing region with that special Miracle’s touch, we offer the same variety of excellence in hair care services. Although Takaya had to make the difficult decision to close her Alabaster location in July 2016, she is furthering other entrepreneurial endeavors. In 2017, Takaya started Be The Miracle, Inc. Be The Miracle is a 501c(3) foundation that provides hair care services to individuals who are in shelters, rehabilitation centers, and/or are in disadvantaged situations. In addition to the foundation, other endeavors include motivational speaking , business coaching, starting her own premium hair extension line,
Miracle’s HairBundles, providing services as a celebrity makeup artist, and starting her very own cosmetic line,
Kandy Girl Cosmetics.
Takaya attributes her success to her relentless faith in God. She is the epitome of what perseverance and determination can accomplish when coupled with prayer, vision, and planning. Although her clients inspire her, Takaya is greatly inspired by her family. Her greatest inspiration is her husband, Anthony Maddox. Together, they aspire to propel Miracle’s into one of the hair industry's game-changing salons.
The Miracle’s staff of skilled technicians and stylists share Takaya’s commitment to excellence, customer service, continuing education, and leadership abilities. At Miracles, we are looking for experienced stylists to work in a great atmosphere.
